Tensha Shrine has begun a project to reconstruct the four torii gates surrounding its sacred altar.

As a place that carries on the rites of Abe no Seimei, Tensha Shrine has preserved this tradition of ritual and faith to the present day. The Tendan, the sacred altar where rites handed down from Abe no Seimei are performed, is an important ritual space in Onmyodo. The torii gates standing in its four directions correspond to the Four Divine Beasts—Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, White Tiger and Black Tortoise. They guard the four directions and form the sacred boundary separating inside from outside.

After many years of exposure to wind, snow and natural deterioration, however, the four torii gates have been damaged to the point that maintaining their proper form and safety has become difficult.

To restore the boundary in the four directions and preserve the tradition of rites conducted at the sacred altar for future generations, Tensha Shrine has undertaken the “Project to Reconstruct the Four Torii Gates of the Sacred Altar.”

The project’s target is ¥5,000,000.
As of June 27, 2026, we have received ¥1,220,000 in support, including offerings delivered directly to the shrine office.

Every contribution will help support the new torii gates and become an important foundation for passing this place of prayer on to the next generation.
